PRIORITY SECTORS
1.Environment and Energy
The important sub-sectors are Renewable Energies, Biofuels, Biomass Utilisation as well as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Organisations involved include those in consulting services (technical, engineering, project management, legal, financial, market research); design and build companies; contractors (general and specialised equipment fabrication, plant construction, erection and maintenance); technology licensors and providers; technical suppliers and vendors (engineering and hardware products, specialised equipment); biofuel producers (bioethanol and biodiesel); marketers and distributors; venture capitalist, corporate investors and banker, chambers of commerce,
professional bodies, industry and trade associations; R&D institutions, universities and government bodies involved in the promotion, monitoring/regulatory and licensing of these sub-sectors.
2.Natural Resources (Forestry)
The target groups of this sector include wood-based manufacturers, exporters and trading companies (timber, plywood, medium density fibre board, furniture, wood-based crafts), consultants (timber certification and validation), contractors (specialised wood processing equipment fabrication, construction, erection and maintenance); technology licensors/providers; suppliers of timber products (i.e. sawn timber, veneer, mouldings, chipboard, fireboard etc.), technical suppliers and vendors (hardware and consumable products, specialised equipment); as well as industry and trade associations; R&D institutions, universities and government bodies.
3. Agriculture/ Aquaculture
Agriculture/ Aquaculture sector include palm oil industry (i.e. palm oil plantation owners, exporters, millers, refiners, palm kernel crushers, producers of speciality fats and oleochemicals, food and non-food palm oil manufacturers etc.); pepper, sago, coconut and cocoa industry (i.e. plantation companies and smallholders, packaging companies,
manufacturers, farming equipment suppliers etc.); shrimp, fish and
seaweed farming companies; aquaculture feed products suppliers; testing, quality control and certification independent laboratories; patent and trademark consultants and legal firms as well as agriculture/ aquaculture downstream processing and value-adding enterprises such as food processing companies, agro-based product manufacturers, food
ingredients and functional food producers, edible oil producers, food and bio-agriculture technology providers, biotechnology companies, herbal nutraceuticals and spices manufacturers. Similarly, relevant government bodies, R&D institutions, universities,
industry associations, local and foreign chambers of commerce.
4.Ecotourism
This sector involves tour and leisure activities operators, destination management companies, ticketing agencies, hotel operators, transport and logistic providers, tour guides, ecotourism product developers, incentive and event organisers, natural parks management agencies, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultants, property developers as well as the trade associations related to tourism industry, international and regional tourism and hospitality associations, environmental planning and monitoring agencies, government bodies involved in the promotion of tourism in each sub-region.
